Thankful. | Middle Tennesee Family and Portrait Photographer

I have really enjoyed reading the ‘Days of Thanksgiving’ (or whatever you’d like to call it) on Facebook. If your news feed isn’t already full of them, it’s simply where people are listing something that they’re thankful for each day of November! It’s interesting to see personalities shine through their thanksgiving – some people mention family, some are happy about clean houses/clean kids :-), some are grateful for good music and good food.

I think living in today’s world tends to create less thankful hearts. We have everything at our fingertips….fast food, speedy internet, Snuggies that prevent the annoying (?) wadding up of blankets while you’re watching tv….you know what I’m saying. We have SO much that we may not take the time to think about what we really have….and I know that I tend to take my blessings for granted. I’ve tried to take moments in the past few months to be grateful for all that I have, and the One who it came from, so the Days of Thanksgiving posts on FB have been fun to read!

That said, I wanted to share a few of my favorite things I’ve been thankful for lately. No Facebook account required.

My wonderful, loving family – I don’t know what I’d do without them (immediate and extended!) They would do anything for anybody, and that has truly shaped how I want to treat others.

My funny, thoughtful friends. I’ve gotten to spend more time with them in recent months and it’s hit me how LUCKY I am to be blessed with such true friends, from throughout my entire life!

My happy little business. Oh clients/friends, I can’t tell you how thankful I am for you! You’ve allowed me into your lives more and more each year and I have been pleased as punch to get to know you through photography. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Now, for a few fun ones…..fall foods (pumpkin, chili, you name it). Thoughtful cards in the mail. My 1998 Pathfinder that just keeps chugging along. Soft blankets on these chilly nights. Vandy beating UT and getting to see it in person! (sorry, UT fans, but I know my dad is proud). This pin, because it’s me to a T. Mascara – it makes a big difference. Home movies. Photography sessions in which the kids can’t stop telling me about their lives: school, favorite foods, their new bug bite, lost teeth! Thanksgiving meals. Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade!

I could keep going, but I want to list what I am most thankful for this November: my husband, Sam! We were married on November 3rd and couldn’t have been happier with the entire wedding day. We were blessed to be surrounded by those closest to us on a beautiful fall day (well, until the thunderstorm came through during the reception!), and we are so thankful for everyone that could be there. He is the love of my life and I’ve promised him that I will try not to talk about him too much on the blog 😉 I love the amount of laughter in our marriage and our shared affection for ice cream. A HUGE thank you to Ulmer Studios for taking our engagement photos and Erin Oveis Brant for our wedding photos!
